Maitland Car Accident Lawyers

In a single moment, a car accident can drastically alter the future of individuals — and entire families. It can take time to understand the extent of the losses involved.

Goldman Law, P.A., takes the time to listen. Our attorneys work to understand the depth of all losses:

  • Emotional anguish
  • Psychological damage
  • Material costs of lost wages, medical bills and so on

We tell this story in the most factual and persuasive manner possible, in language that insurance companies understand. We tenaciously pursue the maximum compensation possible. We also help our clients learn how they can help to protect their own interests.

Do Not Sign Paperwork

It is likely that insurance company representatives will approach you before you have the chance to get a professional opinion about your case. They may attempt to record conversations with you — when you call the company, for example. They may rush to the scene of the accident, to your home or even to your hospital bed with offers for you to sign.

Please understand that signing documents and accepting payments could release insurers from their obligations. This could damage your case before you have a chance to truly rebuild your life and provide for your family.

Seek Medical Help

Even if you only suspect you have an injury, it is typically wise to respect the massive forces involved in car accidents. Some injuries are obvious, such as burns, broken bones or spinal cord trauma. Others may cause lasting effects but show few noticeable symptoms at first: Traumatic brain injuries or joint injuries, for example.

Seeking medical help for yourself and any other injured parties in your family could help you catch subtle problems before they develop dangerous complications. Acting quickly could also help you establish an early, factual basis for your insurance negotiations.

Do Not Discuss the Accident

Talking about the intense trauma of an injury could seem healthy: A way to process pain and begin to heal. While this may be true, it would probably in your best interest to avoid:

  • Posting on social media
  • Speaking to insurance representatives
  • Talking with other drivers involved in the crash (beyond gathering contact information)
  • Making statements to police without understanding the legal context

There are various risks involved with discussing a car accident. Primarily, insurance companies could use your statements to damage your case and diminish your claims.
